Trying to make the most of this few days break. Brought the canoe back to my parents shop and cleaned up three months of sand, mud, and leaves.
We more permanently repaired the main support brace and the cross-brace which had just sheared in half at Jeff City.
After taking care of the welcoming committee,
I reinforced the sail, re-strapped in my seat, added a rudder, replaced pvc storage for the umbrellas, and rigged up a stronger way to mount my umbrella and still paddle in the rain.
Now just a quick load of laundry, switch out the sleeping bag (to my cold-weather bag), grab a few more layers, and we'll be all set for the final leg!
Just in time to enjoy a Chiefs game this weekend!!
You are a brave soul!! I am inspired every time I read your posts. You have already accomplished more than most of us could ever dream of accomplishing! God Speed!!
Brand new rig! The rudder will be your best friend!!! Behind your pup of course!!
What an adventure. Love following you. Did you have the two by four for support in your canoe until you got to Missouri?
Honestly ,your trip is so inspiring ! Way more involved than I ever dreamed it would be!
2328 miles paddling a canoe!!?? Exceptional activity in that few have accomplished! Certainly an experience of a lifetime!! Continuing to cheer you to the finish!! Oooooooooorah!!!
