Today was the last day with my parents. It was with mixed feelings that we parted ways for the next three months. We really enjoy each other and without them, this trip and so much more would not be possible. But I'm ready to begin this larger journey, without the safety net, I'm ready to put all my planning and preparation to the test.
Admittedly, I've been spoiled with my truck so close ready for every portage. I'm currently ahead of my original schedule by seven days and have seen every type of water and weather that Montana at least can throw at me.
They dropped me after Mulroney dam east of Great Falls for the last Montana portage until Fort Peck. I very soon ran across two gentlemen fishing for pike, two very startled beavers, and more mule deer than I can count given the dusk feeding time. Beautiful country and the water is already faster than I've seen at 5-7 mph.
We are enjoying your journey Amanda. Treasure each day..
